PRESENT EVENTS
Please write down the important dates of our upcoming events on your personal calendar. Thank You
Mon. Dec 5 @ 6:45pm in the St. Mary’s Room- our regular membership meeting took place.
This meeting was well attended and we voted on our new year calendar of events which follows, pg3.
The FS paperwork is completed and we will have our Officers Installation as soon as it can be arranged.
SundayDec. 12- Feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A big day for our Council, please join in wherever.
6:30am- Mananitas @ OLM . A wonderful Traditional Song of Prayer to our Blessed Mother. If you haven’t
.experienced this before, it is well worth getting up early for, and always a Special Blessing.
8:00am – Parish Breakfast For any and all Brother Knights, come lend a hand. We will serve only one meal after the 9:30 Mass, clean up and then carpool for those who want to, to the EXPO.
12 noon to 12:30 Medford EXPO. The Mass will begin at 1:30 this year so we need to be there by 12:30 or so for those who can make it. We have been invited to help again with the procession in & out, escorting the priests, helping with ushering, possibly helping with the Eucharist Celebration (depending on the number of priests), we will participate in the praying of the Rosary and maybe even helping with the sweet breads & coa coa table afterwords. Hopefully our fellow Brother Knights from Medford and Central point will be able to join with us once again this year.
-GK Dennis M. will meet at the EXPO on Sat Dec 11 to firm things up with the event staff.
Mon. Dec 20 @ 7pm - Officers Meeting is happening at Dennis Mellecker’s house, 2909 Diane St. Ash.. It is important that as many of our officers attend as is possible. We will be planning our other activities for the new year, looking at doing our first, First Degree here at OLM, planning our Officers Installation and discussing further the structure of our regular meetings and specific ways to make our regular meetings worth coming to. As usual, once business is concluded we enjoy homebrews, sausages or whatever and always great Brotherly fellowship.
KNIGHTLY NEWS-
-Tom Spellman’s “Spiritual Warriors” AKA the Karate Kids are kickin!!! He and his students mailed 60 Rosaries and other religious articles to our troops in Baghdad. As the youth were making the rosaries they prayed to the Blessed Mother to watch over our soldiers and keep them out of harms way. Fr. Joseph blessed the rosaries and the youth and these, along with our prayers will be sent to Brother Brian Moyer who is stationed in Baghdad at the moment. These will be an incredible blessing for our soldiers overseas.
Thanks Bro Tom!
-The Mellecker family sent $100 in shoe inserts, chewing gum, disposable razors, different kinds of body powders, koolaid, gatoraid, and antiseptic hand wash to 14 of our Men in another unit in Iraq.
-We finished the storage cabinets in the parish hall, 4 of them, 2’deep by 8’tall 4’wide locking units for the various ministries at OLM. We donated 25 hours of Knights service time. All of our KofC stuff now has a permanent home, yahoo!!!
-Brother Knights, please make record of your personal service activities and the hours of service you give to our community. You can access a service record form from our website or call the GK. We are requested to send a service report to our State Deputy on a regular basis as this helps our fraternity in many ways.
Thanks to one and all!!!
Brothers, Keep Brother Bruce Strauman and all those struggling with illness, Brother Brian Moyer and all our Caldenian Brothers and Sisters being persecuted in Baghdad in your constant prayers. Bruce is holding his own and is a true example of a Brother Prayer Warrior. Brian and Bruce especially thank each and every one of your families for praying so diligently for them.
VIVAT JESUS!!!
Dear Brother Officers,
This is the final draft of our 2005 calendar that we voted on at our last meeting.
Please give it a look and transfer the regular dates of our meetings onto your personal calendars.
Thanks, Dennis
Calendar 2005 – Our Lady of Guadalupe Council 13407, Ashland
January-2005
Our Regular Membership Meeting will be the first Sun. of each month after the 5pm Mass & Dinner @ 6:45 in the St. Mary’s Room. We need to set our focus at these meetings on which Programs we will service and which Charities we will be giving to. (We had a great turnout at our Dec. meeting at the new time.)
Our famous Parish Breakfast will be presented every other month on the Second Monday of the month. During the summer starting in June we will do the breakfast each month to make the most of the 3 Mass summer schedule. We will dedicate each 4th breakfast $ to our council’s needs and the other three will be dedicated to the Charity of our choice. Some choices which we discussed are listed below.
Our Officers Meeting will be held on the 3rd Mondays of the month at Dennis M. house at 7pm where we will finalize our action items for the previous and proceeding month.
Adoration Time- OLM has Adoration on Fridays @ 8:30 am & 9:00 pm.
Fr. Joseph has asked us to help organize the Adoration times and work with the parishioners towards having Perpetual Adoration @ OLM at some point in the future.
We will discuss this at our next Regular Meeting.
Social Time together- We will discuss this at our next meeting.
Service activities together- Watch for e-mail alerts and Brother Paul Steele will activate our phone tree for our monthly events, please transfer these to your personal calendars.
February-
Regular meeting, First Sun after 5pm mass/dinner @ 6:45p, St. Mary’s Room
Breakfast next month
Officers Meeting on 3rd Monday @ Dennis 7p
Adoration Time together on ________
Social time together on _________
Service activity together on __________
March-
And so on and so on. Every other month we do a breakfast, starting in summer we do a Breakfast each month. Make time for Adoration, Socials and Service activities.
Please make note of our event dates and times noted in the monthly newsletter and transfer them onto your personal calendars strait away, Thanks.
(In this newsletter I am hammering home the “please transfer our event dates to your personal calendars” because we have very limited resources to get the word out about our events, so we need to make the most of our newsletter and personal calls. Thanks for your consideration, GKDM.)
We have been invited to help on a limited basis with the Sunday Night Dinners and help with the Hispanic Theme Meals in whatever way we can, ie. Cinco de Mayo, any and all of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebrations, etc, etc. There is a Hispanic insert to the parish bulletin which comes out the first Sunday of the month, we need to plug into this.
Pls note: If our regular Breakfasts bring in +- $200, and our summer Bkfst +-$400
Then we need to decide specifically who we will contribute to. (+-$2000yr)
(Once we get ourselves established and the parishioner’s see us as a viable conduit for genuine service to the parish, Fr. Joe is open to us receiving bequests from parishioner’s estates if that would be the case, in the future.)
Below are some of the items we voted on at our last meeting:
- Fr. Joseph’s personal choice, whatever his special needs, projects are,
- ie, Easter- time prayer service help, Stations of the Cross, Ushering, etc.
- During Christmas-time we can give Fr. Joe a special present just between us and him for all that he does, in the amount of $100. (We need to spend all but a minimum amount of our funds each December, by the end of the calendar year.)
- St. Vincent de Paul’s new building in Medford, $500.
- Magdalene House for unwed mothers, $500.
- Set up a bank account for the “Front Porch Const Co.” Just an idea, we will do limited disabled ramp building for disabled persons , $200.
- The Grotto to Our Blessed Mother on OLM property, not necessarily $ but support of this idea should it come to pass.
- Do a Blood Drive @ ZLB Plasma Services and give this $______ to_______
- Make hundreds of little white hardwood crosses and place them on the church lawns as a memorial to the unborn each year. Set $50 aside for this. Add to this each year if it goes well. Maybe join energy with Medford & Central Point Councils on this, make it a traveling memorial.
- “Multicultural Gathering” which meets the last Sun. of the month from 10:30 till 11.
- Misc. fund for specific Council needs. $300
- Please submit your ideas at our Regular Meeting.
Brothers,
Thanks for your imput.
Grand Knight, Dennis
